Volunteer Minister's Handbook (1976): Now out of print, this is a full course in basic Scientology principles of direct application in the every-day problems of life. The goal of the book was to create a "volunteer minister" able to minister the needs of the community, restoring troubled marriages, easing pain, and much more. In the 1990s a new version of the book was released called the Scientology Handbook. Unlike the original version, the new book included verbose pontifications at the start of every chapter not written by LRH along with painfully hokey illustrations of basic Scientology principles which only served to degrade an otherwise useful subject.

This book is very similar to "The Scientology Handbook". Both books present potent and valuable information on how Scientology Technology can be applied to many different areas of life. However the difference is striking: This book presents the actual exact explanations for the Bulletins and Policy Letters by L. Ron Hubbard. In contrast, The Scientology Handbook is just "based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard" -> the bulletins and policy letters have been watered down for "readability" and "broader appeal".
THIS BOOK is a GREAT WAY to get familiar with the basic/introductory explanations of how Scientology can be applied to many areas of your life. If you could only have ONE Scientology book in your home, I would recommend this one - it has GREAT breadth of subject matter, and immediately applicable information.
