Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
Has many of the lectures so you don't have to buy the tapes.
Cons
So much data and not enough time in one lifetime to read it all.

Bottom line...

I really actually like the R & D Series because especially the earlier ones have a lot of data that is not published in any lectures — because the sound was not good enough for DM. I used the tech LRH gives in here about Group Dianetics to create Scientology-cult.com to start running out the group engram of DM. It is easy to do and really fun, and as is now plain to see GROUP DIANETICS WORKS like a hot bomb!

Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
Contains data that is no where else, like Group Dianetics. Also contains really cool stuff from the period, like photos, cables, letters, etc.
Cons
Insanely heavy. Some of the handy margin notes seem kind of random.

Just fine for the speed reader. Most would prefer to listen.

Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
These books look GREAT on a bookshelf!
With most of the lectures now available in audio format there is little incentive to reach for these, EXCEPT if you want to read some of the WILD STUFF that wasn't released on audio.
The 1994 releases are magnificent, beautiful spines, built in bookmark, glossy pages.
Cons
The full set of these has something like 80 volumes, but they were never released in their entirety. (It's not hard to see why.) The release up through volume 16 covers all lectures up to and part of the First American Advanced Clinical Course.
If you've listened to more than 50 hours of LRH's audio lectures between 1950 and 1952, you KNOW that the man was a showman. He would mix in hyperbole and candor, they were FUN lectures, EXCITING lectures. The transcripts don't give you that, or they could leave you wondering if he really meant it literally, the audio leaves little doubt.

Bottom line...
