OT is the second chapter in the three-step route LRH devised to bring people through the wall of Fire safely. The end result is the ability to confront the whole track in all its unbridled ferocity. OT II is necessary in order to run OT III. OT II was formerly only delivered inside the Church, but today it is being delivered outside by Independent Scientology centers at a fraction of the price all over the world.

This was a transitional level for me when I did it in 1975. It was nice but no match for the spectacular level that came right before - the Clearing Course - and the one that came right after - OT III.

I sup'd this for a few years at Saint Hill in 1984-5 and at ITO in the early 90s for some execs. I got very familiar with what it took to train someone to do the actions per the instructions. One very important thing I noticed was that people who were both well set-up casewise, and well-trained as solo auditors and on OT2 itself, tended to do well on the level (and on OT3). Conversely, people who weren't well set-up casewise, and/or who weren't confident and competent at solo auditing AND well-drilled on the procedures of auditing OT2, didn't do well at all on OT2 (or OT3). It needs a good sup to train (lots of drilling needed!) someone on OT2, not some out-tech C/S who thinks a sup is superfluous and "delivers the OT Levels".

Now, I think the theory of OT2 is complete and utter bullshit. That fact notwithstanding, I have observed on maybe a hundred solo auditors that if someone is well set-up casewise, well-trained as a solo auditor and well-drilled on the procedures of OT2, then doing the procedures correctly in session will produce the desired result. The fact that the stated procedure can produce good results does not logically mean that the *theory* is accurate.

Someone just reading this stuff online and casually trying it out is highly unlikely to get a result, for the reasons given above. And with the far-fetched theory, they will think that it is *all* bullshit, and consider people who have professed great wins on OT2/3 mentally defective.

The real fun starts at OT2

If done strictly per the original course and (mostly handwritten) instructions of LRH and C/Sed well, is one of the most embracive OT-Levels of the Bridge. In people who have done it this way I could watch them detaching from the mechanism of having to be on one side of a game. They could step back and could look freely and exerted the freedom to choose a position and furthermore demonstrated an enormous ability to hold that position thereafter.
It handles the mechanism many Clears complained about that they put out an intention or made a decision and some resistance would build up soon or that it would seem to flip in the opposite direction. Corresponding, the 1970 Grade Chart marked as ability gained for OT II: “The ability to project intention.”
In 1968, LRH explained in a confidential lecture of the Class VIII Course, of 25 Sept 1968, “What Standard Tech does” why a thorough doing of this Level is key to cross safely the OT III band of the Bridge.
Unfortunately, since quite a while OT II not delivered in the C of S completely, but is grossly abbreviated in general. It appears that this Level is not used to erase the full material of its subject as it was intended, but is carried to a big win, only, leaving the majority of the material untouched. The FSO promo currently gives a time of two weeks. Knowing that this level contains thousands and thousands of commands to be run, it is completely impossible to do it fully in this little time. People doing it recently in the independent field according to the LRH instructions had huge wins and wins and had to pause for days and in one case for weeks until they could continue again. Just the periods of the wins alone would have exceeded this checksheet time in FSO.
Questioning OTs of the past thirty years about their passage through OT II, I found only three persons who had done longer stretches of auditing on it (one in the mid eighties in AOSH EU, one in the beginning nineties in FSO, and one in FSSO who did it fully. It should be noted that this person did it fully because he himself insisted on doing it per the book.) The vast majority on C of S lines had seen only a tiny glimpse of that Level. The shortest auditing was found with one person who audited only one day for a few hours on it and then was send to attest the completion (AOSH UK, in the beginning nineties). Later, the same person run into vast difficulties on higher Levels. Isolating what was done before difficulties had started discovered “omitted/incomplete OT II”. Going back and getting the omitted steps done, produced (and produces) huge gains, really huge ones!
After some initial training it can be audited at home, competent C/Sing given.

p.s.: One could speculate why or how its application got shortened. In my case I didn't catch the omission because after completing the Theory-Pack I never saw the theory materials again. They were so secret! And so it came that I never compared its instructions with the processes run later. And the not run processes - I never saw them. And so didn't notice they were missing.

Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
It was amazing to see the needle dance. I did what LRH said and it was incredible. This is the level where I trusted LRH.
Cons
I had reached an incredible EP and wish I could of done more but there are reasons why one should move on.
