New OT I was released in early 1985 and greatly improved the route for people moving up through OT II and OT III. Being a good auditor is vital for maximum gains on the OT levels and problem-free progress, however this level is quite easy to run and trouble free. It is the first introduction into handling the vast areas of charge that lie beyond the first dynamic and total cause on all dynamics.

Once started on OT I, it is essential that a solo auditor move straight through OT II and OT III completion without delay. The benefits are greater the higher one climbs, but also the risks are greater which is why LRH wanted these levels to remain confidential and insisted that a person get well trained before embarking upon New OT I. Formerly only available in the Church of Scientology, the levels can now be done outside the Church in the Independent Scientology field at very low cost.

I just completed OT I in November of 2012. I don't know which version of OT I that I did as I wasn't aware that there are multiple versions, but I can say that doing it as an independent was so much better than my experience on Solo II in the church. There was no stress of being watched, crammed, etc. so that attention was not on the auditing but on external factors. This was so easy my confidence and certainty of my auditing ability soared. At the same time, I was able to have cognitions and case gain.

I have come across the newer OT1 version put out by the RTC and I can see yes you can get some case gain doing it but I don't see how it aligns to what you will be addressing on OT 2.

Pros
I did the Orginal Handwritten by LRH OT1 which consisted of Objective questions.
I ran each question as listed and did get good change and had major Cognition's on each.
It took me several days to complete OT1 mainly because I was so Blown Out.
The Ability Gained from OT 1 sets you up for what you will be confronting on OT 2.
OT 1 is the first baby step you take to full OT and it was a life changer for me.

I didn't receive this, at least not the version the CofS introduced in 1985, but I sup'd maybe a dozen people through it at Saint Hill and later ITO. When it first came out I read it and went, meh. Then the first person did it, and wowie-zowie, they were blown away! I thought, well OK, must have been a fluke. Then the next person did it and was blown away too. I went hmmm. Pretty much everyone who did it got blown away by it, so by the end I had become a believer. The auditing takes maybe 10-15 hours and can be fairly heavy-duty if done properly. This is not all about flying ruds, as some issues online say.

This isn't really an OT Level, despite its name and location. It looks like something that should have been covered on OT Preps, and maybe nowadays people doing it have already covered the actions earlier on and don't go so wowie-zowie about it. I don't know what the current scene is on that, as my observations are from 1985-1992-ish.

The earlier OT1 was doing 13 objective-type drills. Some people who left the CofS before the new one came out have never seen the new one.

A final sup comment. There is a metered solo assessment step right at the beginning of the auditing after all the theory. I can't remember if there is a drill or not on the theory checksheet. But it is VERY important that the solo auditor gets properly checked out and DRILLED on the meter on doing this action, otherwise it will probably get fucked up. This is from bitter experience. Ignore this warning at your peril.

My OT 1 actually set me up for the OT levels. My 'item' was very close to the nature of the case.

Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
There are several versions but mine version did set me up nicely to do the OT levels. (I would not want to do past lives at this point with what I know about the case)
Cons
Much was missing in the application.
