Ron welcomed Scientologists to the newly opened Founding Church of Scientology in Washington, DC, and opened the Congress with his classic lecture The Hope of Man, and gave attendees the news that the hopes of every religion down through the ages could be realized with the world's first practical religion. The focus of the lectures is the principle of self-determinism and the results that can be obtained in processing by addressing the thetan, not the body or the mind. This approach provides means to restore it rapidly to the individual.
