This easy-to-do rundown helps a being confirm for himself what is right, what is wrong, and why. The rundown follows the 21 precepts of L. Ron Hubbard's book, The Way to Happiness giving the person a chance to examine his own thoughts and ideas concerning right and wrong conduct. As we all know, right conduct leads to happiness. Wrong conduct leads to misery. So why do so many people chose wrong conduct? There are various reasons and these are taken up in this rundown, not the least of them is the prevalence of false data on such matters. False data can come from parents, family members, authorities and friends. The road of life is sometimes bumpy, but if you really know where the edges of the road are it is really possible to be happy.

I received this shortly after it first came out, while on staff at Saint Hill. It was around Christmas time. Up to this point I was always broke, with very low havingness on money. While on the HRD I decided that I was going to go to the US that coming summer and see my 6-year old daughter, who I had never actually met. So I somehow changed my mind about a few things, managed to work at a Guardian Office audit project that was paying cash (I worked in my spare time, mealtimes, after post etc), managed to get some book commissions too, and ended up 6 months later making enough money without having to borrow any, without any hassle taking a whole month off, flying to California, and having a lovely time. And no trouble when I got back either. I attributed all that to the HRD auditing I received.

The Way to Happiness booklet I think is pretty useful, although it has the huge liability of having the CofS attached to it.

If I recall correctly, I did the Happiness Rundown in the late 1970's, possibly the very early 1980's. It wasn't long after the Way to Happiness booklet had been released.

I loved the simplicity of the auditing based on the precepts in the booklet. It was so smooth and gentle and pleasing ...

Right up until I hit the end phenomenon of the rundown. That was a huge, powerful recognition of of something I would never, ever, have come up with on my own. I remember and use that recognition to this very day.
