Author
L. Ron Hubbard

The Philadelphia Doctorate Series Course Lectures (December 1952 — January 1953) 76 lectures.
The most renowned series in all of Ron's lectures, this is where the anatomy, potentials and behavior of the spirit are described and analyzed thoroughly. The thetan's relationship to the creation, maintenance and destruction of universes is laid out in lecture after lecture. The text for the course is Scientology: 8-8008 and lectures expand on each concept presented in the book. How one postulates matter, energy, space and time into existence and the factors that caused the thetan to lose that ability as well as the path to its restoration are explained in detail. The creative processing auditing technique is introduced with explanations and examples. In a word, here is Ron's codification of the upper reaches of the spirit's beingness and behavior, in essence, what Ron termed native state.

Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
Mind-blowing info on the spirit and its basic qualities and abilities. Processes that improve these abilities. Great data on frequency vibrations, tone levels, types of energy, etc.
Cons
It's high level, sort of like calculus compared to algebra. Be ready for it.

Bottom line...

What an Achievement!

Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
I still remember exactly how I felt when I completed listening to these 76 lectures! It was an achievement! Both for me to listen to it, and for LRH to have delivered it. What a great month December 1952 had been! I learned so much about myself and the nature of reality by listening to these lectures. You just don't know what you don't know until you listen. Reading Scientology 8-8008 is a very nice introduction to the series.... pop the first audio on and get ready to HOLD ON FOR THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE!
Cons
I think it would be easy for someone to want to start with this series, and for such a person to wonder what all the excitement is about as they listen to the first few hours of the course. People today aren't use to that kind of a slow build up. But it's understandable, LRH isn't opening this lecture series to deliver instant and immediate content, he's creating a group that will be together training for a full month 6 days a week, 14 hours per day. So take it in stride.
