In 1985 LRH released two new services — New OT I and New OT IV. What were formerly called the NOTs rundowns became New OT V, VI and VIII. New OT IV is a drug rundown designed to handle an OT's drug case including from experiences on the whole track involving drugs. This is not a solo audited level but requires another auditor. It is often completed in one "intensive" — a 12.5 hours block of auditing. Once only available inside Church of Scientology, New OT IV is now available outside by Independent Scientology centers.

I completed this in maybe 7 hours and perhaps 5 sessions. I started it in 1984 and finished in around 1992. Ah, the joys of getting audited as a non-paying staff member! By 1992 I was far more interested in getting it done so I could get onto other stuff than any possible case gains from doing it.

The theory of this as covered in the long HCOB about it is far-fetched, but some real stuff does seem to get dug up and addressed by the people run on it. The general attitude I observed with people getting the RD at Saint Hill while I worked in the NOTs division there was that it was just something they had to do between the wow levels of OT3 and NOTs, so let's get it over with and onto the "hot" stuff.

As with the Scientology Drug Rundown, New OT IV - OT Drug Rundown, ran lightly for me due to the fact I had never taken street/illegal drugs. I recall interesting things came up addressing medicines and alcohol but it wasn't necessarily the "mind-blowing" phenomenon which might have occurred with the heavy stuff. I was audited on the Scientology Drug Rundown after OT III and before New OT V - New Era Dianetics for OT's, audited.

Some have made some odd comments and for me it is not a group AA meeting. I might not of felt much while running OT IV but often this is the one time in church auditing that we had to end session on persistent FNS.

It is a good process but over used.

Pros and Cons (optional)

Pros
Great procedure but can be a tad slow.
Cons
Over used in church. The main technique hardly is allowed to be used otherwise.
