Grade V, Power, one of the first steps on the Alternate Route to Clear, gives the ability to handle power, that is the ability to hold one's location in space, which in turn enables a fantastic ability to learn and act. Power Processes knock out all factors of the track that force a person back into the R6 bank and leave the person able to go into or get out of the R6 bank easily. Power can only be delivered by a Class VII auditor.

I got my Grade 5 at the NY org in 1968 (as part of my staff contract) after having had some Dianetics and the quickie grades (I got my expanded grades later). My auditor Valerie (she's still around) was a Class VII and remains one of the best I've ever had. This auditing dug deeper than anything I had previously experienced. In just a few short hours I went into a completely different state. It was magical. It's a shame that those on the newer route to Clear miss out on this.

I got my Power at AOSHEU in 1973 and then I did R6EW and the Clearing course 73 to 75.
Power gave me certainty about myself.. it gave me the kind of certainty you wish you had when running for your life in a nightmare and not going anywhere.... Power gave me that certainty of self so I could dive into Grade VI R6EW and the Clearing Course with aplomb. Now I knew I could handle anything and I would never need to run from my own bank or anything in it..
