Grade IV is the point on the Bridge where the focus markedly shifts from removing disability to rehabilitating ability. it takes up a new kind of barrier not due to something that happened to the individual, nor the result of a harmful action he did. Rather, Grade IV takes up aberration which results from the individual's effort to solve a problem relating to survival. Based on an aberrated computation, this aberration hinders the individual through fixed ideas and prevents him or her from doing new things. The style of auditing is surprisingly deft and effortless, but powerful beyond any auditing up to this point on the Bridge. The final result of Grade IV has the being moving out of fixed conditions and into the ability to do new things.

After this grade my concern really fell away myself as a fixed situation. I can't recall now what it was I specifically addressed. A lot of illusion and distractions seemed to vanish and I felt I was actually involved in magic. And I was off the usual grid. I had a different path. Not part of an army of ants. No,not part of a military of survivors. Just a simple thing with the Scientology and the source selling the knowledge. Scientology stopped being a group thing and came down on to a very personal interest level. This is where it became personal with me and Hubbard. And I thought, if he could reach me, he could reach anyone. I was so wrong. I have not yet met someone else that sees this arena as an exploration of magic. But I came away from the grade 4 with a keen sense of magic and a seventh dynamic, and 8th dynamic view of it all. And feeling anything was possible. Even the impossible, could be possible. I came to believe in magic. And began to see everything in a magical form. I guess looking back at it I stopped seeing myself as an assigned identity and started to think of myself as a potential. This was also the point where I became very interested in Hubbard personally, not his name or credentials or HIS identity, but thinking about and see him as a potential with magic also. I stopped seeing the Scientology as a group social activity but as a line of high magic. I think I moved off the time track I had been embedded in. Because "now" seemed to lose it's significance and the future seemed to hold all of the promise. In my life, everything changed after the grades. I know a lot of people are wowed at the upper levels and I feel sometimes the grades are looked at like Scientology kindergarten . But these processes are powerful magic. Getting through them makes all of the rest a possibility.

On this level I had lots of terrific life improvement wins but when I got towards the end of the Grade IV level my auditor asked me for a very specific item and I couldn't find it... I looked and looked and nothing indicated or was the wrong item and so we repaired it and then we looked again and again and I couldn't find it..... so we just ended session.

After my session I was ridding my fast 1969 twin carburetor Triumph Bonneville Motor cycle at breakneck speeds, as was my wont, and wham! on hairpin turn my item came to me! I had finally competed my grades... on a motor cycle...I went to the examiner and attested! It was one of the happiest days of my life...Grade IV was a level even better than the last level, which seemed like an impossible feat. In fact, I said that about every level of the grades: "the next level could never be as good as the level I just completed!". But, invariably I was always proved wrong. The next level was better.

God gave you opposing thumbs so you could hold onto the cans..... don't waste your time. Do the levels 0 to IV and you will never be the same. I still have all my abilities and it is 40 years later...

I got this at Saint Hill in the mid-70s. The auditor didn't find much to run. I figured there was something wrong with me, especially later when I had gotten more tech training and read all the wow things that were supposed to happen regarding service facsimilies.

Well, to date, I still haven't found much to run in the area, and I don't tend to make others wrong and so forth. Draw your own conclusions. :)
